VG PG ratio guide: what the two numbers mean
This VG PG ratio guide explains the two numbers on an e-liquid bottle. VG is vegetable glycerin and PG is propylene glycol. A 70/30 bottle is 70 percent VG and 30 percent PG. We use only the figures on our product pages and general product information, and we have not tested the liquids.
Everything here is for adults aged 21 or over.
What PG does
PG is thinner and is generally said to carry flavour well and give more throat hit. Thinner liquid wicks easily, which is why it is common in small pod devices.
A high PG share is also commonly used with nicotine salts, which are often used in small pod devices. The 50/50 Elux listing is an example. Check the device listing for any liquid limits, because some devices name an ideal range.
What VG does
VG is thicker and is generally said to make smoother, denser vapour. Thicker liquid wicks more slowly, so very high VG liquids can struggle in small, low-power coils.
Thin and thick liquid in practice
A thinner liquid fills a small coil quickly. A thicker liquid needs a coil and power setting that can handle it. If you see weak vapour or a burnt taste, check the ratio against your device listing.
A high VG share is common in larger bottles for bigger tanks, such as the 70/30 SAM Vape Max 120ml, listed for sub-ohm devices. In a small pod, the same thick liquid can be slow to reach the coil. If your device struggles, try a thinner liquid.

Which ratio suits which device
Match the liquid to your device. Check what the kit listing says about coils and power. Our vape coil compatibility guide explains coil matching, and the pod system range lists current kits.
Ratio and nicotine strength are separate
The ratio tells you nothing about strength. Always read the mg/ml figure on the bottle as well, and stay at or under the 20mg/ml figure in UAE.S 5030.
Bottle size changes the cost. The 30ml Manila bottle at AED 35 is about AED 1.17 per ml, while the 10ml Elux bottle at AED 40 is AED 4.00 per ml. Neither figure says anything about quality, only about price per ml.
Nicotine type, strength and UAE rules
Nicotine salt and freebase behave differently, and strength is shown in mg/ml. The UAE standard UAE.S 5030 sets a limit of 20mg/ml for nicotine in vaping liquids. Check the current rules on the MoIAT website before you buy. Read our salt nicotine vs freebase guide.
