Battery safety
External batteries — 18650 and similar cells used in vape mods — deserve more care than most people give them. A few rules worth following:
- Use a proper external charger or the manufacturer’s own, never an unbranded fast charger.
- Never carry a loose cell in a pocket with keys or coins. A short circuit across the terminals can cause a violent failure.
- Retire any cell whose wrap is torn or whose casing is dented or swollen. Rewrapping a damaged cell is not a repair.
- Match the continuous discharge rating (CDR) to your device’s wattage. A 20A cell safely covers a single-battery mod to around 60W.
- Do not leave batteries charging unattended overnight, in direct sun, or on a car dashboard.
Genuine cells
Counterfeit and rewrapped batteries are widespread and frequently overstate their capacity and discharge rating — which is exactly the specification you rely on for safe operation. Everything we sell comes through authorised distributors.
